PLSO Oregon Surveyor July/August 2020

23 Professional Land Surveyors of Oregon |  www.plso.org Featured Article One Photo: Six Captions Lee Spurgeon, a PLS in Oregon and the Education and Outreach Committee Chairman of PLSO, submitted this as a tongue-in-cheek pick-your-own-caption. Here are his suggested captions. What would yours be? Photo courtesy of Lee Spurgeon Dang. They didn’t leave me any space for my monument in what I like to call the “correct location.” If your name is on the iron rod with the yellow plastic cap, if you email me $100 in bitcoin, I won’t reveal to anyone. One would think that the surveyor who set the original plat pipe in 1936 would have taken a bit more care in setting it in the right place. Is *&#$%@^@&**”!@ a real word? If not, can we make it a real word for special occasions like this? Pipe: “I was set in 1936. The plat closed within two feet. My surveyor did an outstanding job!” Iron rod without a cap: “I was set in 1972 with a survey that closed within two tenths. My surveyor did an outstanding job!” Iron rod with a cap: “What were those two other idiot surveyors thinking?”
