Volumes have been written on the topic in recent years, and for good reason: with each passing year, more and more physicians find themselves struggling to cope with it. In fact, according to The Physicians Foundation’s 2021 Survey of America’s Physicians, 61 percent of physicians report often experiencing feelings of burnout—a significant increase since 2018 as tracked by The Physicians Foundation data. And yet, despite its growing prevalence—and in turn, the amount of attention it receives—only 14 percent of physicians sought out medical attention to address any of their various mental symptoms according to the same data.
