OTA Dispatch Issue 2, 2021

34 Oregon Trucking Associations, Inc. Oregon Truck Dispatch Technology & Maintenance Council (TMC) Update OTA’s Technology & Maintenance Council (TMC) has always been more of a “hands on” part of the association, holding workshops so attendees can get up close and personal with the equipment and tools they use throughout the course of their day. With a global pandemic and state gathering restrictions in place, TMC was forced to hibernate for much of the past year. Now, with the situation improving, TMC is preparing to get back to work in helping our industry technicians keep up to date with all of the latest and greatest. While the local and national SuperTech skills competition has again been canceled for 2021, OTA’s TMC is moving ahead with an in-person Maintenance & Education Fair in November. More details will be available soon! OTA COUNCIL Updates SMC and TMC will be taking the summer off, but meetings will resume in the fall—virtually and in-person! Please check our publications and event calendar www.ortrucking.org/events. Please contact OTA with any questions regarding TMC and SMC events: info@ortrucking.org . Safety Management Council (SMC) Update OTA’s Safety Management Council (SMC) is on track for their 2021 Safety Conference, taking place live and in-person October 6–8 in Eugene at the Valley River Inn. Speakers and sessions are still being finalized. We’ll also celebrate some of our industry’s top safety performers. If you know of a team or individual who take safety to the next level, be sure to nominate them before August 2. You’ll find applications for Safety Professional of the Year and SMC Fleet Safety Award on our website. SMC is also continuing to hold monthly virtual meetings— free to OTA members. Recent topics have covered workplace spills (May), FMCSA Pre-Employment Screening Program (April), and more! If you miss one of these meetings, recordings are available in the OTA Member Portal.
