OTA Dispatch Issue 4, 2021

34 Oregon Trucking Associations, Inc. Oregon Truck Dispatch OTA COUNCIL Updates SMC and TMC will be taking the summer off, but meetings will resume in the fall—virtually and in-person! Please check our publications and event calendar www.ortrucking.org/events. Please contact OTA with any questions regarding TMC and SMC events: info@ortrucking.org . Safety Management Council (SMC) Update OTA’s SMC remained busy in 2021 as public and employee health remained a top priority (as always)—and an ever- changing situation. We’d like to send a special thanks to Jennifer King (WHA Insurance) who represented our industry in discussions around Oregon-OSHA’s “temporary” permanent COVID-19 rules. She also directed the program and speakers for the 2021 Safety Conference and worked tirelessly to make the in-person event a success. She’s already hard at work on the 2022 Spring Safety Conference, which will actually be held in the spring next year—April 27–29 at the Salem Convention Center. Technology & Maintenance Council (TMC) Update Our service technicians and fleet managers were able to gather in person at the recent 2021 TMC Maintenance & Education Fair. Last year’s event had to go virtual due to the pandemic. A special thanks to Mike Vallery (Oak Harbor Freight Lines) for pulling together the sessions and speakers. TMC hopes to return to a more regular schedule of in-person workshops and training in 2022.
