OTA Dispatch Issue 2, 2022

30 Oregon Trucking Associations, Inc. Oregon Truck Dispatch Safety & HR Professionals Gather for... 2022 Spring Safety Conference in Salem By Christa Wendland, OTA Communications Consultant FOR THE FIRST time in two years, the Oregon Trucking Associations (OTA) annual Spring Safety Conference was able to return to its normal timeframe, taking place April 27–29 at the Salem Convention Center. As safety is such a priority within the industry, covering a wide range of duties and concerns, the two-day event focused on both topics unique to the industry, as well as more traditional human resources and employee health and well-being. Attendees were able to learn from experts, explore the latest topics and exchange ideas with their counterparts. The safety professionals in attendance heard from representatives from the Oregon Department of Transportation, Oregon OSHA, SAIF, and many others. They also had the opportunity to explore the latest offerings from OTA’s allied partners who supply and support the industry’s safety efforts. Another aspect of the Spring Safety Conference is recognizing some of the top performing individuals and teams, presenting the Oregon Fleet Safety awards. While the 2022 Safety Grand Champion and Safety Professional of the Year will be announced at OTA’s Annual Convention & Exhibition this August in Bend, other winners in various categories were announced during the awards banquet.
