30 Oregon Trucking Association, Inc. Oregon Truck Dispatch Trucking Business Owner Dale Latimer— Ram Trucking Dale Latimer and his family have been in trucking for as long as he can remember. So when the opportunity arose to purchase Ram Trucking, where he had previously worked as the operations manager, in 2001, he jumped at the opportunity. While Dale had a breadth of experience working in different aspects of trucking, owning the company means that he— and everyone else at the small trucking business—wears a lot of different hats. “I’m in charge of everything from janitorial to acquisitions,” said Dale, who says that his favorite part of the job is working with the people on his team. “That’s something I look forward to every day. I’ve also always had a passion for the equipment itself.” Dale believes that there’s never been a better time to get into the trucking industry or a greater opportunity to make a great living wage working in trucking. “We’re finally seeing drivers and mechanics with their specific skillsets earning the income level that they’ve deserved for decades,” said Dale. With experience across all facets of a trucking business, Dale knows that Over The Road drivers often make a lot of sacrifices to ensure that products get where they need to go and, like the consumers who see their products arrive on their doorstep on time, he is grateful for the sacrifices they and their families make every single day.
