Those walks are as varied in type and length and enjoyment as the projects we survey. Believe it or not, in the not too distant past, I had a few interesting and rewarding walks around downtown Portland. One of the more notable walks was the 4T Trail featured in the Lost Surveyor in the November/December 2017 issue. The trail includes four forms of transportation and alongside the trail, a corner of the Elizabeth Caruthers DLC. What famous American figure in surveying and in literature wrote eloquently on walking, nature, and life?
