The Kauffman Group Incorporated (TKGI) was established in 1984 as a family-owned and operated, full service company specializing in bond release work and other services related to building, property management and land development across Northern Virginia. While conducting field work for bond release and Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) acceptance, TKGI gained experience paving and patching asphalt in order to repair water valves and damaged storm drain pipes. As the company grew, so did their skill working with asphalt. TKGI began work on larger paving repair projects, preparing for the final paving of public and private streets. By TKGI patching the streets, the primary paving companies were then free to follow behind and focus on placing the final surface layer. With the purchase of their first paving machine in 1996, TKGI turned to projects placing subgrade stone and pavement for small parking lots, driveways and trails. Today, their paving operation has expanded to two paving machines, numerous rollers and a fleet of dump trucks. With these tools, TKGI can handle a wide variety of paving projects—from small utility patches, to roadway installations, to mill and overlay up to 1,200 tons in size. TKGI believes in giving back to and supporting the industry, and is proud to be an active member of the Virginia Asphalt Association.
