VAASPHALT.ORG 29 Ron White Ron White, Chairman Emeritus of Superior Paving Corp., has retired after 44 E.P.I.C. years of service. His leadership and contributions to Superior and the asphalt pavement industry, locally and across the nation, will undoubtedly leave a lasting impact for generations to come. As a visionary, Ron’s work ethic, service to others, and ability to build relationships across all levels embody the true meaning of excellence, partnership, integrity, and commitment in every aspect of what we do personally and professionally. Ron served in a multitude of capacities for the industry. He served as chairman of the National Asphalt Pavement Association, president of the Virginia Asphalt Associa- tion, and the Heavy Construction Contrac- tors Association. He has served on numerous boards and committees that focus on and promote education and advancement of asphalt technology—chair- man of the NAPA Pavement Economics Committee, NAPA Research & Education Foundation, H.C.C.A. Sidney R. Johnston Memorial Trust, and Virginia Education Center for Asphalt Technology. Ron was recognized by the industry in 2011 by receiving the H.C.C.A.’s Lifetime Achieve- ment Award and, in 2015, was inducted into NAPA’s Asphalt Hall of Fame. Even though Ron’s involvement will be missed, the impact of his contributions will continue to echo throughout our great industry. We are truly excited for Ron and Valerie and this next chapter of their lives. Congratulations, R.W., and thank you!
