Matan USA Inc. Digital Printers
Offer Quality Traffic Signs
Matan USA Inc. in Williamsville, N.Y., has offered quality products and creative solutions to printing
customers for more than 20 years. The company’s DTS line of Digital Traffic Sign Printers features
the DTS-12, DTS-36, and DTS-40. Matan’s line is endorsed by Orafol, Avery Dennison, and 3M Traffic
Safety Systems, which offer a warranty to companies who use the inks on their products.
Developed by Matan USA in collaboration with its reflective media partners, the printers use Matan’s
thermal transfer dry ink printing system on high-performance reflective sheeting.
“When we compared the DTS line of printers with other printers of the same type on the market today,
we found these were the fastest, enabling jobs to be completed in far less time,” said Peter Brosch,
general manager of Matan USA Inc. “The DTS line of printers’ efficiency costs sign printing companies
less money because of overall time saved printing directly onto the media versus traditional methods of
screen printing using reflective vinyl that’s cut, ‘weeded,’ and applied to the sign directly.”
The DTS line prints at the production speed of up to 270 meters (885 feet) per hour, can handle fast
turnaround jobs and provide an efficient solution at peak demand times.
This fall, the company rolled out an Orafol-warranted solution—there will be no need for traditional
overlaminate on its wayfinding solutions. A new, clear ribbon is printed in line with the colors, meeting
and exceeding the weathering and reflective requirements. The result is a savings in both time and cost
(the clear ribbon is a fraction of the cost of traditional overlaminate).
Another enticement for customers is Matan’s environmentally friendly philosophy for “green” solutions
and alternatives for its products. The DTS line’s ink contains no fumes or liquid waste because of the
resin-based thermal transfer (a thin coating
of ink on a polyester film that carries the ink).
The ribbons and ink don’t contain heavy
metals, making them safe for landfills.
In addition, the packaging, core and
polyester films are environmentally safe and
easy to discard.
The company delivers forefront digital
printers focused on three major printing
segments, including super wide format;
traffic signage; and labels, tags, decals,
license plates and sign printing. Signs
created with DTS high-durability inks,
which are available in six specialized traffic
colors, have up to a 12-year warranty. The
translucent inks enable reflectivity from the
background substrate to comply with the
strictest retroreflectivity standards.
The product line includes the DTS-36 with
effective printing width up to 90 cm (35.51
inches); the DTS-40 with printing width up
to 101.6 cm (40 inches); and the DTS-12
printing up to 30.7 cm (12.08 inches).
Matan Digital Printers, which is the parent
company of Matan USA Inc, employs about
70 people, and its factory is located just
outside Tel-Aviv, Israel.
