ATSSA Accomplishments Report 2019

3 Message from the President & CEO On the occasion of ATSSA’s 50th anni- versary, I’d like tomake a fewcomments and observations regarding our annual Accomplishments Report tomembers. First and foremost is ATSSA’s core purpose: to advance roadway safety. Themost important work here is done by you, our members, not only in your businesses, but also through your volunteer efforts onATSSA committees, task forces, and in chapters. Be proud of what you do—somebody is alive today because of it. Your ATSSA staff carries that purpose and pride into our daily activities. Our Government Relations team has built solid relationships on Capitol Hill. Members of Congress visit your businesses “back home” and as a result have a deeper understanding of roadway safety. ATSSA’s Member Engagement teamworks tirelessly tomake each chapter meeting useful and informative. Your Convention team puts on the very best roadway safety meeting and trade show anywhere. And, as we all know, ATSSA training has long been the “industry standard.” As we look to the future, ATSSA is bringing additional focus on the issue of Connected and Automated Vehicles. I’ve written an article estimating that it will be, at the least, 2050 before we have a fully automated vehicle fleet ( ATSSA.com/Document/ MixedVehicleFleetArticle.com) . During the era of the “mixed vehicle fleet,” our industry will need to continue to be creative in order to accommodate both auto- mated and human-driven vehicles. On behalf of your Association, I’d like to thank you for the work we do together and wish each and every ATSSA company a successful and prosperous 2020.  Roger Wentz, ATSSA President & CEO Since 1969, the American Traffic Safety Ser vices Association (ATSSA), an international trade association, has represented companies and individuals in the traffic control and roadway safety industries. ATSSA’s more than 1,500 member companies and public agencies make our nation’s roadways safer. ATSSA is committed to an environment where roadway safety is always improving.
