The Signal | November/December 2019 17 Member Company & Agency News Getting to know guardrails ATSSA’s Employee Immersion Program continues to educate Association staff about member companies The ATSSA Employee Immersion Program is geared toward building up staff knowledge of the various roadway safety infrastructure industry products and services by visiting ATSSA member companies. ATSSA Director of Innova- tion and Technical Services Eric Perry once again immersed into the guardrail industry through this program by tour- ing and meeting with Trinity Highway Products, LLC on July 18. The goal of this initiative is to provide better service to membersbyunderstandinghowmember companies operate, and what types of products are on the market. With road- way departure crashes accounting for more than 50 percent of all motor vehi- cle traffic fatalities, Perry experienced a first-hand view of how these life-saving devicesare fabricated toprotectmotorists from roadway departures while visiting Trinity Highway corporate headquarters andmanufacturing facility in Dallas and Ft. Worth, Texas. Greg Neece, Director of New Product Development at Trinity Highway led the tour of the Fort Worth, Texas manufac- turing facility and offeredmore informa- tion about the company. The visit guided Perry through the assembly of various products, including the SoftStop ® System, a tangent, single-sided, energy absorb- ing, redirective, and gating MASH-2nd Edition guardrail end terminal system. The tour provided a process overview of their products and quality control. As part of the “Buy USA” program, Trin- ity Highway tracks each applicable part of their product to ensure that they are built withAmerican-made steel products. While in Texas, Perry also visited the corporate offices to meet other Trinity Highway employees to learnmore about their business and other products. While onsite, Neece showed Perry examples of how their products are installed and provided an overview of their training program, which includes step-by-step instructions and instructor-led train- ing if needed. These training programs assist road owners and guardrail install- ers to ensure products are installed and properly maintained to aid in keeping the roadside safe.
