American Traffic Safety Services Association 38 Will Burney of Trinity Highway Products, LLC, who sits on ATSSA’s Guardrail Committee and is a member of the Texas ATSSA Chapter, was one of the attendees of the committee’s/group’s August meeting. Guardrail Committee The Guardrail Committee was eager to hear an update from TroyBucko, transportationengineer at CaliforniaTransportation Department (Caltrans), who spoke about the status of the Manual for Assessing Safety Hardware (MASH) in California, Caltrans crash testing, and other timely topics. The commit- tee had a lengthy discussion on terminals with curbs, led by Filiberto Sotelo of Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT), andDickAlbinwith the Federal HighwayAdministration (FHWA) updated the group on the status of MASH. Nate Smith, vice The High Friction Surface Treatment (HFST) Council elected Cliff Barber of Frictive as the new chair and Jacob Falbo of Mineral Manufacturing was elected vice chair. Presentations were given by Ken Kochevar from FHWA and Arshad Iqbal with Caltrans regarding HFST challenges and concerns. The council reviewed and updated their work plan, dissolved the committee rotation and guidelines review task forces, and renamed the Communications/Outreach Task Force the president of government relations at ATSSA, walked through revised guardrail legislative language, which was voted on and approved by the committee. To round out the meeting, John Durkos, vice president of technical support andmarket- ing of Road Systems Inc. provided a recap of the guardrail manufacturer meeting held August 21, 2019. A motion to create a recurring industry partner meeting to address guard- rail issues was subsequently made and approved. High Friction Surface Treatment Council Marketing Task Force. They also requested HFST information be included in a future 90 Second Update and/or Tuesday Topics webinar. The ATSSA committee webpages will be reviewedandupdated, committee rotationallocationnumbers were updated, and the inspection and training course will be reviewed for future content changes.
