The Signal | May/June 2020 5 ATSSA News He spent 25 years in Tempe, Ariz., with the National Speakers Association (NSA) and its foundation, moving through the ranks frommanager toCEO.While at NSA, he helped launch The Nonprofit Orga - nization Resource Group, and served for 14 years on the Board of Directors of the Convention Industry Council in Alexandria, Va. It was while serving on that board that he got his first exposure to theWashington, D.C., area and set his sights on moving there one day. That opportunity came in June of 2017 whenhewaschosento leadtheAlexandria- based United Motorcoach Association (UMA), a group that like ATSSA empha - sizes safety for its members. “I lovedmy career at NSA,” Tetschner said. “We built some high-value products and services, all thewhileworkingwith some incredible experts and thought leaders from around the world. Yet, I knew that I wanted to live on the East Coast and work in the D.C. associationmarketplace for exposure to even more opportuni - ties. Once our older boys were out of college, we decided to take the plunge to the East Coast and UMA provided a perfect transition for us.” FAMILY IN THE FOREFRONT Asdedicatedashe is tohiswork, Tetschner is equally invested in his family and calls them the “proudest achievement” of his personal life. He and his wife, Michelle, have been married for 32 years and have three sons. Their oldest son, Stephen, is 29 and married. Mitchell, 26, finished his master’s degree in May despite the academic changes brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic. Raymond, 17, is in high school. He was adopted by the Tetschners after they decided to become foster parents in 2002. Raymond arrived at the Tetschner home five days after his birth and never left. A glance at Stacy Tetschner’s Facebook page shows the two are fast pals and adventurers, on the go to places like the Lincoln Memorial and Washington Nationals games in D.C., historic sites near ATSSA’s headquarters in Fredericks - burg, Va., and sailing near Annapolis, Md. ATSSA staff gathered at headquarters on Feb. 5 to meet the Association’s new leader. Tetschner greeted each person individually after his introduction. He started on March 16.
