The Signal | May/June 2020 33 The Foundation 3M raises nearly $18,000 for Foundation through virtual pledge wall program Foundation thankful for 3M’s commitment to supporting its programs The 3M corporation raised $17,791 for The ATSS Foundation through this year’s virtual pledge wall. The fundraising tool was set up at ATSSA’s 50thAnnual Convention&Traffic Expo in NewOrleans. The pledge campaign also offered the option of texting to donate and ran throughout themonthof January. This was the fifth year 3M has hosted a pledge wall at the Expo to support The Foundation’s programs. The St. Paul, Minn.-based company sponsored the wall andmatcheddonations up to$5,000. “Their continued dedication to help The Foundation really makes a difference in whatwe’reable todo for scholarship recip - ients and promoting work zone safety,” saidFoundationPresidentDavidKrahulec, who is president of Pennsylvania-based HorizonSignal Technologies. “It’s through efforts of companies like this that we’re able to do the work of The Foundation.” The ATSS Foundation is the charitable armof ATSSA. It was formed in 1988with the core purpose to promote roadway safety through charitable giving and public awareness programs. Among its programs are college scholarships for the loved ones of people killed or perma - nently disabled in work zone crashes. “On behalf of 3M Transportation Safety Division, we are honored to have once again sponsored the Pledge Wall that helps raise funds for The ATSS Foun - dation and allows us to give back to our industry,” said DavidWilk, area director for the U.S. and Canada for 3M’s Trans - portation Safety Division. “Donations would not have been possible without the support of our customers and ATSSA members. We want to thank them for participating with us tomaximize contri - butions to The Foundation.” 3M started the pledge wall in 2016 using a Post-it for each donation, but in 2019 moved from the office supply staple to a virtual pledgewall. It has proven popular among donors. Members also had the option to text to donate to The Founda - tion.
