American Traffic Safety Services Association 36 The Foundation New activity book promotes work zone safety Children’s book available for download or purchase For anyone challenged to provide their children with meaningful activity during pandemic restrictions, The ATSS Foundation has a great option. It’s now offering a 32-page child’s guide for staying safe in roadway construction zones. The book is geared for ages 5–8 and includes 26 safety tips—one for each letter of the alphabet. “B is for Be prepared to STOP,” is one of them. But the book isn’t just about instruction, it also offers opportunities for crafts and problem-solving. It has a mask to cut out and assemble, a construction zone worker and outfit in paper-doll fashion, road sign challenges, a crossword puzzle, word finder game, and a maze. The Foundation is excited to offer this tool for students, parents, and educators to discuss the importance of work zone safety. ATSSAmembers and chapters are encouraged to download it for their use and to partner with their local schools to promote work zone safety. The activ- ity book is available for free via digital download or for hard copy purchase at Foundation.ATSSA.com/ActivityBook. “This guide to staying safe in construction work zones is a perfect activity to get chil- dren, parents, and educators involved in learning more about work zone safety,” said Lori Diaz, associate director of The Foundation. “It could even have young- sters calling out reminders next time you approach a work zone, which benefits everyone.”  To download or purchase the youth activity book, Foundation.ATSSA.com/ActivityBook.
