OTA Dispatch Issue 4 2019

5 www.ortrucking.org Issue 4 | 2019 ADVOCATING, EDUCATING, AND PROMOTING THE TRUCKING INDUSTRY EVENTS UPCOMING EVENTS additional cost to you! Even if you are using Trucking Online, we process these and get these to you quickly, saving you the cost of personnel time and effort by managing this part of your program. It is definitely a win-win for both OTA and your business. And I am very excited to announce that we have recently added two new programs that can have a positive effect on your bottom line, as well as take some of the guess work out of potentially complicated policies and procedures. The first is our OTA Drug & Alcohol Consortium, powered by CLEANFleet. With FMCSA’s national clearinghouse going live January 6, 2020 there is no time like the present to evaluate your employee drug testing protocols. The OTA Consortium allows your company to be part of a larger pool of drivers for random testing requirements, as well as offering a variety of drug-testing services including pre-employment testing. As the industry takes the lead in legislative and regulatory changes around company drug policies, it is crucial that we continue to support drug testing protocols that not only keep our drivers safe, but the motoring public at large. And in other exciting news, beginning January 2020, OTA will be offering a SAIF Workers’ Compensation program to members—the Transportation and Trucking Workers’ Comp Group! SAIF’s long history of cost effective workers’ compensation insurance made their program highly desirable, but OTA hasn’t had access to it for decades. As you talk to your broker about workers’ compensation insurance, make sure they are aware of the new OTA program. Our first-year discount program is modest, but as we build on the safety culture of our organization this will improve in years to come. OTA’s program with SAIF will not only benefit you, but will help to support the industry association that represents your interests! Continues on page 7
