OTLA Sidebar May/June 2020

9 • SIDEBAR • May–June 2020 A s we all know, our professional world looks dramatically differ- ent today than it did just a few short (or long…) months ago. However, that hasn’t stopped OTLA from staying connected with all of you! While we’ve all been stuck at home in quarantine, OTLA has continued offering relevant education programming for everyone to attend virtually. This way, we can all still feel like we’re spending time with colleagues and friends while racking up CLE credits at the same time! OTLA has worked to adapt its education programming to present new and unique webinars that have attracted record attendance from membership! Soon after the Oregon stay-at-home order was issued, OTLA hosted its first “COVID-19 Webinar” on March 26th, which was attended by over 300 members! This covered a whole host of topics directly related to the COVID-19 pandemic and its ef- fects, including updates about OTLA’s legislative work and how to protect your practice and your clients’ rights, tips to run an office remotely, your obligations as an employer, insurance coverage and more. On April 24th, the second COVID-19 Webinar provided follow-up answers to many of the ques- tions raised by members in March and expanded on how members can keep their practices running right now with support from OTLA. Beyond these crucial all-member webinars, OTLA has hosted a long list of other pandemic-specific virtual OTLA Events in the Age of COVID-19 CLEs. April 3rd brought an “OTLA Zoominar — A Zoom How-To and Best Practices Webinar”, wherein Annual Partner Barbara Haikal of Synergy Litigation Support Services briefed members on Zoom basics including best practices and potential pitfalls. On April 10th OTLA hosted “How to Run Your Practice Remotely”, which featured Guardian Marcia Alvey , Meredith Holley , and Rep. Dan Rayfield . These fantastic panelists shared their own experiences with remote work to show members the ins-and-outs of working from home EVENTS continues on page 10 Early on in the pandemic, panelists presented How to Run Your Practice Remotely to more than 100 OTLA members.
