Thursday, June 7  Ticketed Events/Workshops  Special Events  Lectures Friday, May 19 A Course in Restorative Dentistry Which Includes the Caries Process 8:30–11:30a, Friday 5/19 LOCATION: 240/LA CIENEGA TYPE: LECTURE CEU: 3 COURSE DESCRIPTION This course will include understanding new concepts in the caries process. Also covered will be the topics of Biodentine in pulp therapy and indirect pulp caps, CVEK pulpotomies for dental trauma, GIC restorations and the Hall Technique. OBJECTIVES • Know the indications, contraindications, and the steps for an indirect pulp cap. • Describe the steps for a Slot Prep using GIC and new restorative materials. • List and describe the 5 factors that are the causative effects of caries and they do include toothbrushing. Lance Kisby Dr. Kisby is a graduate of Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. After completing his Residency in Pediatric Dentistry at Floating Hospital at New England Medical Center in Boston, MA, Dr. Kisby was Chief of Pediatric Dentistry and Assistant Director of Dentistry at R.I. Hospital in Providence, RI. He then went on to spend 17 years in private practice in Massachusetts until he accepted the position of Chief of Pediatric Dentistry at St. Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury, CT. He has been Board Certified in Pediatric Dentistry since 1983, was a former Contributing editor to the Journal of Clinical Pediatric Dentistry, he has multiple publications, he is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry as well as a Master of the Academy of General Dentistry. Dr. Kisby had created two Pediatric Dental Residencies, one in Danville, PA and the second in Wilmington, DE, where he was Program director of both programs. He is currently the staff Pediatric Dentist at the Lac du Flambeau Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians in Lac du Flambeau, WI with the IHS. Dr. Kisby has over 45 years of clinical and teaching experience thus bringing new and exciting techniques and insights to those dentists and staff who treat children. We will highlight management of venous lakes and fibromas. In the days of increased technology including digital impressions, the dentist will understand how to take better impressions. Dentists will be able to see how we use a laser to depigment gingival tissues and removal of Crowns and Veneers without using a dental drill. We will highlight the importance of getting the golden proportions and creating the smiles that your patient needs, deserve and desire through gingivectomies and closed flap crown lengthening’s. Lastly, we will discuss how to integrate a laser into your daily practice and get your team on board. OBJECTIVES • Understanding and managing soft tissue issues. • Enhancing cosmetic outcomes using both hard and soft tissue laser settings. • Adoption of different lasers into your daily routine. Russ Morrow Dr. Russ Morrow is currently the Chief Clinical Officer for Biolase. His vision is to help dental practitioners deliver better dentistry and has found one of the best ways of doing this is using dental lasers. He is a General Dentist who practices in Cave Creek, Arizona and currently serves on the Arizona State Board of Dental Examiners. As the former Lead Doctor Mentor of Operations for Heartland Dental, Dr. Morrow has a passion for helping new doctors become great doctors. Russ is a graduate from the University of Utah with a B.S. in Exercise Sports Science and received his Dental Degree from New York University. NMDA is an ADA CERP Recognized Provider.
