ANNOUNCEMENTS: See “Upcoming Events” calendar. CORRESPONDENCE: 1. Memo fromNYSDA dated February 2, 2022 re: Component Delegate allocation for ADA and NYSDAHouse of Delegates. REPORTS OFOFFICERS AND STAFF: President—Dr. Michael Donato: • Reported on his attendance at multiple Zoom meetings of the GNYDM LLC Personnel Committee. The committee is exploring options for the future leadership of the GNYDM. These may include a renewed contract with Dr. Edwab as executive director, identification of a successor to Dr. Edwab and/or hiring of an assistant to the executive director. The committee is considering the employment of an executive search firm to assist in this process. Dr. Donato presented the following resolution to the Board: Resolution (passed): THEREFORE, BE ITHEREBY RESOLVED that the Personnel Committee of the GNYDM is authorized to critically evaluate options for future leadership of the GNYDM, and to undertake a search, directly and/or with the assistance of one or more search firms, to identify the most qualified candidate(s) to lead the Greater NewYorkDental Meeting in the future, and to negotiate proposed agreement(s) with such person(s), subject to the approval of theMembers. Following discussion, a vote was held and the resolution passed. President-Elect—Dr. Raymond Flagiello: • Announced that Dr. Saad Butt has been appointed to serve as the Second District representative on the GNYDM Organization Committee effective 2023. Treasurer—Dr. ValerieVenterina: • Reported on the balances in the Chase operating and savings accounts and the Vanguard Investment Portfolio. Asset allocation in the investment portfolio falls within our desired range. Executive Director—Mr. BernardHackett: • Discussed the correspondence received from NYSDA in which we were informed that there will be no change in our delegate representation. The Second District will retain ten delegates to the NYSDA HOD and three to the ADA HOD. • We will begin live CE presentations again and our March 10 General MembershipMeeting at Dyker Beach Golf Club will be live. • There will be no CE vouchers issued for 2022. We plan to resume next year. • Our CERP renewal application has been filed in Chicago. • A property tax appeal has been filed with New York City. • Two outstanding peer review cases which have been delayed due to the COVID-19 situation will be scheduled. • The Loan Forgiveness Program is in progress. NYSDA REPORTS: NYSDATrustee —Dr. Mitchell Mindlin: • Reported that New York State has declared COVID-19 to be a disability. We must keep this in mind when treating patients because refusal to treat someone you suspect of having COVID-19 could potentially lead to a discrimination lawsuit. • ADA lobby day is scheduled to be held live in Washington, D.C. from March 20 to March 22. • The search for a new NYSDA executive director is progressing. A professional search firm is being utilized. SDDS REPORTS: Greater NewYork Dental Meeting— Dr. Richard Oshrain: • A combination live/Zoom meeting of the Organization Committee took place on January 19. • Contacting speakers and arranging the schedule for this year’s Meeting is in progress. • Deposits for 67 booth spaces have been received to date. • Ameeting of the Budget Committee was held. • There will be no printed program guide, only digital. 10 SDDS BULLETIN May/June 2022 — VOLUME 39 ◊ NUMBER 3
