The un- fortunate term “dying profession” has been hurled our way. However, if that were true, you all would not be as in- credibly busy as you’ve been the past few years. This committee cultivates, supports, and sustains programs that help promote our profession to incom- ing generations and college students. One area that Lee really focused on was the mentorship program. This program needs to be built on so that we can en- sure all college students needing an internship can find one and that high school seniors may work with a firm for their senior project. I get quite a few re- quests for internships every year and I’m often surprised how difficult it can be finding someone available. Providing a guide to members on how to create a successful internship program has been on my wish list for some time. It would be great to find a chair that can work on this withme. Themore we help people along the path to licensure the more opportunities we have for keeping them interested and active in the Ore- gon professional community. Whoever takes the helm needs to provide an in- fusion of positive energy and interest in our future workforce, which will create a stronger membership. For more in- formation, the committee charter may be found in the Operations Manual at the same location given above. I often tell you readers how important members are to the running of PLSO. It’s not lip service. This is a member-run organization. If there is something that has been lacking or you would like to see an emphasis put in another direc- tion, we need you. Volunteering can take as little or as much time as you have to put into it. So now is the time to ask: is your life busy or is it full? Help build our future by volunteering today. x PLSO Wants You!
